About UsAbout Sensory Assault Operations Sensory Assault Operations was born out of necessity and influenced by military life. Sherri Pruner, mom to a four year old with Autism and Sensory Processing Disorder, is the owner of Sensory Assault Operations. In 1998 she earned an Associate Degree in Natural Science, and in 2000 she earned an Associate Degree in Occupational Science. Her husband is active duty in the Army and through him has personally witnessed the honor and bravery of those serving our country and how the influence of serving in the military has changed lives for the better. These influences, combined with a child that she describes as not merely sensory seeking, but on a sensory mission, gave birth to Sensory Assault Operations and the Sensory Assault Pack. The idea for the Sensory Assault Pack has been in development for more than two years. Looking back, Sherri can see subtle signs of sensory problems with her son as an infant; he hated baths and having his diaper changed and never liked to be put on his tummy. Her son always liked to look at lights and hear music, but would scream at loud noises; he was calmed by rocking or bouncing motions and would swing in his baby swing for hours, and later on a regular swing at the playground (and boy could he go to town in his jumperoo too!). After Sherri’s son was diagnosed with Autism, his case coordinator recommended sensory work for him which led to an evaluation by an occupational therapist and a subsequent diagnosis of Sensory Processing Disorder. Sensory work was integrated into his IEP at the special education preschool he attended and helped him focus and function each day. Thanks to a great case coordinator and team of therapists and teachers, Sherri’s son has had profound improvement with the right treatment. Today, he is a different child—bright, happy, eager to learn, loving and curious. Sensory Assault Operations proudly supports our military! HOOAH |
